Ron DuPuy, 67
Ron DuPuy, 67, passed away March 5, 2007, at his home in Kalispell after a sudden diagnosis of lung cancer. The son of Jim and Rose DuPuy, Ron was born May 9, 1940, in Newburg, N.Y., and moved to Half Moon at the age of 2. Ron graduated from Flathead High School in 1958.
Ron retired in 1987 from the Kalispell Police Department as lieutenant detective. Although Ron had a distinguished career in law enforcement, he was best known for his passion for the game of golf. Ron's friends always could count on finding Ron having breakfast, coffee, or playing a round of golf at the Buffalo Hill Golf Course.
In 1963, he married Sandy Lee Dunn and officially made Kalispell his home. After retiring from the Police Department, his children successfully lured him away from his Kalispell home to be an optician in Lubbock, Texas, but within several months, Ron had moved back to Kalispell and swore never to leave again.
In 2005, Ron purchased a home on Village Greens Golf Course, where he enjoyed his retirement playing golf, riding in his cart, and visiting with friends. At the time of his death, Ron was employed part-time at Elm Locating Services as an office manager.
He was preceded in death by his brother, Jimmie; and his parents, Jim and Rose.
Ron is survived by his wife, Sandy; and four children, son, Robert, and grandson, Kevin; daughter, Randi, and grandchildren, Justin and Shonda; daughter, Jeannine, and grandchild, Aja; and youngest son, Jeff.
Ron passed away peacefully with friends and family "to be with his Lord Jesus." Ron learned of his cancer diagnosis Monday, Feb. 25, and passed away seven days later. Ron's faith remained strong and he used his last few days to express his faith in Jesus; his bravery, love, and sense of humor were an inspiration, and he will be missed by all.
There will be a celebration of his life at 1 p.m. Saturday at Glacier Memorial Gardens.
