Woman arrested in knife assault
Kalispell police answered a woman's call for help Thursday morning on West Center Street, but she ended up getting arrested. The 19-year-old woman and her 22-year-old boyfriend fought over a cell phone, then she grabbed a folding box knife out of his pocket and they struggled over that until he was slashed on the hand. Even though it was superficial, it was assault with a weapon, police said. Further charges are pending. Their 10-month-old baby was unharmed.
Two instances of domestic abuse were reported within four minutes Wednesday afternoon, but everyone involved left before police arrived.
Someone dumped a big load of gravel in the westbound lane of West Reserve Drive between U.S. 93 and Stillwater Road, sending vehicles sliding. The people at LHC construction office and gravel pit said they were sending equipment to clean it up at about 8:30 a.m.
Canine leave-behinds caused irritable people at Fourth Avenue and Seventh Street West, and at First Avenue West.
There was a strong odor of natural gas at JC Penney's, so fire authorities asked that the mall's service road be blocked off on the east end. NorthWestern Energy workers found a small leak inside near the dock.
Two outside windows were broken on the northwest side of Linderman School.
"Elusive doggie" was the diagnosis after an uncatchable collie ran free on West Idaho near Carquest.
A car carrying several people high-centered near Starbuck's then managed to get free, but those inside behaved very suspiciously when police spotted them.
