Charles R. Young, 85

Charles R. Young, 85, died in Salem, Ore., on Friday, March 9, 2007, from complications due to a stroke.

He enjoyed working in his yard, doing tractor work for others, and woodworking.

Charles was born on Jan. 15, 1922, in Havre. He lived in Kalispell and Polson for many years, working for the B & B Food Market before moving to Salem. He was a Navy veteran of World War II and Korea.

He married Eloise Marie Kauffman and together they had three children. They were married for 60 years.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Gilbert J. and Verda Mae Young; and wife Eloise.

Survivors include daughter, Patricia Welch, and husband, Gerald, of Alaska; sons, Charles Young and wife, Debbie, of Salem, and Robert Young and wife, Patty, of Salem; brothers, Gilbert Young of The Dalles, Ore., and Don Young of California; sisters, Marge Jobe of Shelby, and Joyce Rogers of Arizona; two grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and niece Joan Dykstra and nephew Jim Nordtome, both of Kalispell.
