Subdivision planned at base of Big Mt. Road

A 55-unit subdivision planned at the base of Big Mountain Road tops a list of eight public hearings at the Whitefish City-County Planning Board meeting tonight.
Coldwater Basin would span 27 wooded acres divided by Big Mountain Road. Fourteen cabins with a cul-de-sac and on-street parking are planned on the west side of the road, with 23 single-family homes and 18 cabins on the east side. A cul-de-sac on the east side would end in an unlocked gated emergency access into The Woods subdivision.
Developer Coldwater Properties is asking for preliminary plat and planned-unit development approval.
Another major subdivision on the agenda is a 31-lot development planned by developer Reto Barrington and the Glenstal Group. Twenty-six single-family lots, 45 condominium units on four lots and one five-acre lot for future development are proposed on 23 acres off U.S. 93 north of Whitefish.
Other hearings include:
. A request by the city of Whitefish for conditional-use permits to build 80-foot cell towers at the water-treatment plant site on Reservoir Road and the city shop site, 545 W. 18 St.
. A conditional-use permit request to relocate a house for use as a guest house at 1856 Lacy Lane.
. A request by Michael and Leslie Collins to change Sun Crest Subdivision into a two-lot development. Michael Collins also is asking for an amendment to create a four-lot subdivision at 502 Ramsey Ave.
. A request by the city of Whitefish to add a new section pertaining to lakeshore protection-zone setbacks to the city's zoning laws. The new provision would require a 10-foot setback for structures that rise above the finished grade, such as retaining walls, buildings, decks and balconies.
. A request by Jennifer Byers for a two-lot subdivision at 244 Minnesota Ave.
The meeting begins at 7 p.m. at Whitefish City Hall.
