I don't know why my car is soaked, officer

A woman hit the alarm button on her cell phone, told the roadside assistance company her car was filling up with water, then disconnected. The company contacted Kalispell police, who, with help from Flathead County Sheriff's deputies, searched for the woman, although they had no idea where she might be.

Dispatchers were able to contact her about 20 minutes later. She told them she fine; she said she'd hit a deer and friends were taking her home from the Kila area.

When a police officer arrived at her home, however, he found the woman and her car there, both soaking wet, because she'd driven her car up to the windows in the river near Old Steel Bridge. She was "heavily counseled."

After being pulled over for a red-light violation, the 19-year-old driver was also charged with possessing drug paraphernalia, open container, habitual offender, and driving with a suspended license and without insurance.
