Kalispell police arrested a 39-year-old Kalispell man Wednesday on a $250,000 warrant involving domestic violence and burglary charges.

John Robert Klingele was being held in the Flathead County jail pending his initial appearance before the justice of the peace.

The Flathead County Attorney's Office issued the warrant on one felony count of burglary, three felony counts of stalking, three felony counts of violating a protection order and two misdemeanor counts of violating a protection order.

The primary charge against Klingele is for stalking, detective Jim Wardensky said, with the initial offense occurring Jan. 2. Wardensky said Klingele's estranged wife had filed an order of protection against him by that time.

On March 4, Kalispell police received a report that Klingele was violating the restraining order.

Since then, Kalispell police detective Sgt. Scott Warnell has worked with the Domestic Violence Action Team, cooperating with the County Attorney's Office and the victim, to bring Klingele into custody.

The action team is newly established during the past year, under grant funding that provides a detective, victim advocates and a part-time prosecutor. Members work to protect rights and make the Flathead a safer place for victims of domestic violence and protection-order violations.
