Eloise R. Hinman, 103, passed away on Monday, March 19, 2007, at the Immanuel Lutheran Home in Kalispell. She was born on Oct. 26, 1903, at Farmington, Utah, the daughter of William Warren and Lucy (Pinder) Rose.

She was the oldest of six children. Her father worked at a local floral company, so money wasn't always abundant, so the family grew everything necessary to survive. They canned everything so they could reap the bounty all through the year.

She met her future husband, Henry Wallace Hinman, at a dance in Farmington and they were married in the 1920s. The couple had two daughters. The family eventually moved to Montana in 1934, where Henry was able to find work as a carpenter.

Eloise worked for 20 years at the F.W. Woolworth's Store in downtown Kalispell doing window displays, one of her first jobs at the store. She retired when she was 65 as was required in those days. Following retirement, she continued gardening and remained active in her church, The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Henry, in 1982; daughter, Beverly Torbergson; a brother, Alton Rose; and three sisters, Shirley Rose, Lucy McKnight and Elizabeth Larkins.

She is survived by her daughter, Kaye Adkins of Kalispell; and a brother, Guy Rose of La Mesa, Calif.

Funeral services for Eloise will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, March 26, at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints on Whitefish Stage with Bishop Mark Robison conducting. Visitation will be for one hour prior to the services at the church. Burial will follow at the C.E. Conrad Memorial Cemetery.

Johnson Mortuary and Crematory is caring for Eloise's family.
