Maeloye Lowney, 65, passed away peacefully Thursday morning, March 22, 2007, at her home in Evergreen. She was born Feb. 4, 1942, in Richfield, Utah, to Joe and Myrle (Syddall) Frye.

Maeloye grew up in Richfield, where her father Joe ran a freight-line business for many years and also was a fire chief of the Fire Department there. She attended school at Richfield and later went to Business College in Salt Lake City.

She married John Lowney, and their home was a social center in West Valley near Salt Lake City.

She worked as a troubleshooter at a large company in Salt Lake City. The family moved to Kalispell, where John ran a trucking business. Maeloye started helping at a nearby restaurant and motel. After a few years she was working full-time, mostly in the early shift at the restaurant, which was in Evergreen. It was a job she enjoyed very much as she got to know the customers, many of whom were regulars.

She and her husband John raised three sons, Jeffrey, Brad and Scott, in the Salt Lake and Kalispell areas. All her friends and relatives remember her as a fun-loving lady with an infectious smile.

She was preceded in death by her father, Joe, in 1988; her husband, John, in 1989; and her son, Brad, earlier this year.

She is now survived by her companion of 13 years, Gene Speelman, of Kalispell; two sons, Jeffrey Lowney of Somers, and Scott Lowney of Kalispell; two grandchildren, Breanna and Jacob, both of Kalispell; her mother, Myrle Frye of Richfield; two sisters, Rita Willardson of Gunnson, Utah, and Judy Stuart of Richfield; four brothers, Ted Frye, Ron Frye and Val Frye, all of Salt Lake City, and Shon Frye of Sigurd, Utah.

Memorial services for Maeloye Lowney will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, March 28, in the Johnson Mortuary chapel, with Pastor Glenn Burfeind officiating. There is no visitation. It was her wish to be cremated.

Johnson Mortuary is caring for Maeloye's family.
