Whitefish police ran into dead ends when a man reported his vehicle stolen from the O'Shaughnessy Center parking area, but didn't know the license-plate number and said the vehicle was not registered to him. The county Sheriff's Office later reported that it had been repossessed.
Another engine was sent out of the roundhouse in the BNSF rail yard, blocking the Birch Point crossing for 45 minutes and prompting a resident to complain.
There were lots of lost dogs in the city Wednesday.
