Magdalene H. 'Meg' Winkley, 95
Magdalene H. "Meg" Winkley, 95, passed away Wednesday, May 2, 2007, at Immanuel Lutheran Home in Kalispell. Meg was born May 30, 1911, in Bradford, Ohio, to Frank and Louise Mock Crowell. She was raised in Bradford, graduating from Bradford High School.
After high school, Meg attended Miami Valley Hospital Nursing program in Dayton, Ohio, where she graduated in 1932.
Meg enlisted in the U.S. Navy where she served as an ensign from May 1945 until June 1946. She moved to Kalispell in 1948.
Meg met Frank C. Winkley and on March 20, 1948, they were married. They resided in Lewistown for years, where she worked as a nurse at the local hospital. In 1969, they moved to Pablo, and in 1996 they moved into the Buffalo Hill Terrace in Kalispell.
Meg loved horseback riding when she was younger. She enjoyed playing cards, was an avid reader and enjoyed sewing.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Frank and LuLu Crowell; a son, James Philip Winkley; her husband, Frank C. Winkley; a sister, Margaret (Crowell) Fetters; and two brothers, Maurice and Robert Crowell.
She is survived by niece and nephews, Kay McClanahan of Utica, Ohio, Brent and Terri Fetters of Johnstown, Ohio, Karen and Jerry York of Lexington, Okla., Craig and Hazel Fetters of Orlando, Fla., Gail and Bob McPherson of Pataskala, Ohio, and other family members, brother-in-law, Luther Fetters of Johnstown, Jane Winkley of Kalispell, Jeff and Janeen Winkley of Kalispell, and Debbie and Jerry Krier of Kalispell.
A celebration of her life will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, May 5, in the Buffalo Room at the Buffalo Hill Terrace. Her ashes will be buried at the Tobacco Valley Cemetery later in the summer.
