Whitefish goes undefeated
Defeats Bigfork in regular-season tennis finale

BIGFORK - Whitefish wrapped up perfect regular seasons in boys and girls tennis action Saturday by defeating Bigfork.
The Whitefish girls topped the Valkyries 5-2 to finish with a 10-0 league mark, 12-0 overall.
WHS won at Nos. 1-3-4 singles and Nos. 2-3 doubles.
The Whitefish boys downed the Vikings 5-2 to go 8-0 and 10-0.
Up next for area Class A teams is divisional play, which begins Thursday in Kalispell.
"It was nice for both the boys and girls teams to finish undefeated," said WHS girls coach Patrick Dryden.
"I don't think that's happened before at Whitefish High School."
"We had a great season and the new season starts next week (at divisional)," said Whitefish boys coach Kathy Cummings.
Whitefish's Chase Pierce trailed 6-1 to Bigfork's Bridger Mahlum, but rallied for a 7-6 (8-6), 6-2 win at No. 4 singles.
At No. 3 doubles, Scott Johnson and Lucas Peace battled back to down Bigfork's Jordan Sabo and Dylan Richmond, 1-6, 6-2, 6-1.
Brielle Menegazzi, who suffered her first loss of the season on Friday, rebounded with a 6-1, 6-1 victory over Bigfork's Brianna Hughes at No. 1 singles.
"It was nice to see her bounce back the way she did today," Dryden said.
"Brianna had some nice shots. It was closer than the score indicated."
Dryden said Bigfork's No. 1 doubles team of Roxy Thurman and Quindee Averill looked sharp in beating Kate Whitaker and Kimberly McIntyre, 6-3, 6-1.
"Averill and Thurman really picked it up," Dryden said.
"We jumped out to leads in both sets and they stormed back."

Polson, Bigfork split
BIGFORK - Polson and Bigfork split a tennis dual on Saturday.
The Polson girls took all three doubles matches and added wins at Nos. 1-3-4 singles to post a 6-1 victory.
The Bigfork boys won all four singles matches and came out on top at Nos. 2-3 doubles for a 6-1 triumph.
"The Polson girls dominated doubles play and looked good overall leading into divisionals," said Polson coach Bob Hislop.
"(Karston) Erickson and (Jake) Grebetz had a very good win at No. 1 doubles. They were very steady, especially serving and returning serves."
Erickson and Grebetz defeated Bigfork's Owen Roberts and Kainoa Lake, 7-5, 6-2.
Bigfork and Polson will compete in divisional play, starting Thursday in Kalispell.
The Polson girls finished the regular season 8-2 in league matches, 10-5 overall. The Polson boys were 3-8 and 5-10.

Two matches went the distance: Libby's Nate Broden defeated Weston Bartkoski 6-7 (8-10), 6-3, 6-1 at No. 4 singles and Columbia Falls' No. 2 doubles team of Michelle Cronquist and Carrie Hopkins outlasted Jourdan Wood and Katie Horelick, 6-3, 5-7, 6-1.
