Canadian Days baseball kicks off tonight

There's no tying in baseball.

The Kalispell American Legion baseball program amended its rules for their own Canadian Days Tournament, which begins tonight.

No game will end in a tie, which happened last year and caused an uproar. In the event of a tie, the game will continue using international rules, where the player who made the final out of the previous inning will begin on second base.

The tournament has two groups of teams: four Class A programs and five Class AA programs. The Class AA teams will play a jamboree format and will not conclude with seeded games. The Class A teams will play a round robin and finish with seeded games

Flathead's Class AA American Legion programs are abuzz coming into the tournament. The Glacier Twins and the Kalispell Lakers will face each other for the first time this season in the last game of the tournament, Sunday at 5:30 p.m. It will be the first of four matchups in the next two weeks.

Joining the AA Lakers and Twins will be the West Kootenai Eagles from Trail, B.C.; the Rocky Mountain Bandits from Cranbrook, B.C.; and the Sherwood Park A's, from south of Edmonton, B.C. All AA games will be played on Griffin Field.

The Class A field comprises Libby and Missoula, along with Glacier and Kalispell. All single-A games will be played on Archie Roe Field.
