A dozen restaurants score low in April

The Flathead City-County Health Department included a dozen eating establishments on its list of low sanitation scores for April.

Restaurants included on the list (scores are based on a 100-point scale) were:

. Janelli's Deli in Kalispell (59) - Violations included food temperatures; inadequate hand washing; improper dish washing; and the presence of a dead rodent.

. Fatt Boys Bar and Grille (61) - Violations included food temperatures; inadequate hand washing; improper dishwashing; inaccessible or missing hand sink.

. Kelly Rae's (65) - Violations included food temperatures; inadequate equipment; inaccessible/missing hand sink.

. Genki (66) - Violations included using dented cans; food temperatures; improper dish washing.

. Mr. B's Snak Shak (68) - Violations included food temperatures; inadequate hand washing; improper dish washing; inaccessible or missing hand sink.

. Cimarron Kitchen (70) - Violations included using dented cans; food temperatures, improper dish washing.

. The Knead Cafe (71) - Violations included food temperatures; inadequate equipment; inaccessible or missing hand sink.

. Kentucky Fried Chicken (73) - Violations included food temperatures.

. Elrod School (73) - Violations included using dented cans; food temperatures; improper dish washing; missing or inaccessible hand sink.

. Los Caporales, Kalispell (76) - Violations included food temperature controls; eating, drinking in the kitchen; inadequate hand washing; inaccessible or missing hand sink.

. Wrap'N'Roll, Whitefish (77) - Violations included food temperature controls; improper waste water disposal.

. Los Caporales IV, Columbia Falls (79) - Violations included food temperature controls.

All of these establishments were placed on an accelerated inspection schedule; follow-up inspections were pending.

Fatt Boys Bar and Grille was inspected as the result of a complaint. Its Blue Ribbon rating (given to high-scoring restaurants) was suspended.

Scores reported for Cimarron Kitchen and both Los Caporales restaurants were for follow-ups from previous inspections.

Restaurants scoring 90 and above on the April report included Burger Town, Clementine's Cabin, Show Thyme and Subway in Bigfork; Columbia Falls High School (100), Glacier Gateway and Ruder Elementary schools (100) and Town Pump in Columbia Falls; and Canyon Elementary in Hungry Horse.

In Kalispell, restaurants scoring 90 or above on the April report included Applebee's, Edgerton School, FVCC Eagle's Nest, Get-Up-N-Go Expresso, VFW Post No. 22 (100), Norms News and Qdoba Mexican Grill.

In Whitefish, restaurants scoring 90 and above were Dos Amigos (100); Piggyback BBQ and Westside Exxon.
