Kathleen Ruth 'Kitty' Rhodes, 85

Kathleen Ruth "Kitty" Rhodes, 85, of Coram "went home to be with her Lord" on Monday, May 28, 2007. She died of natural causes at her home, surrounded by her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Kitty was born May 12, 1922, in Prosperity, W.V. She spent her childhood in Prosperity, Beckley, and Parkersburg, W.V. She moved to Charleston, W.V., and attended Roosevelt Junior High before graduating from Charleston High School in 1940.

Kitty married the love of her life, Edwin Franklin Rhodes Sr., of Ripley, W.V., on Sept. 30, 1939, and they made their home in Charleston. They were members of Twin City Bible Church in Nitro, W.V. They enjoyed 54 years together before he passed away April 12, 1994.

Kitty worked for Coyle's Department Store and then attended business school at Charleston School of Commerce. She worked for Luttrell Robson Insurance Co. and for Reed Horner Insurance Co. until she retired in the early 1980s.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Edwin Franklin Rhodes Sr.; and by her grandson, Jeffrey Lance Drake.

She is survived by her children, son and daughter-in-law, Ed and Patty Rhodes of Coram; daughter and son-in-law, Phyllis and Roy Drake of Ocean Aisle Beach, N.C.; daughter and son-in-law, Kathy and Jerry Drake of Tomball, Texas. She was loved by nine grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.

Kitty was a kind and gentle lady, loved by many. She will be greatly missed and leaves a wonderful legacy.

The family will hold a private memorial service per Kitty's wishes. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be given in her name to Canyon Community Church, P.O. Box 130044, 185 Coram School Lane, Coram, MT 59913.
