Kalispell man dies in crash

A 54-year-old Kalispell man died early Sunday morning when his vehicle ended up in a ditch west of Kalispell.
The one-vehicle accident took place shortly after midnight on U.S. 2 West just east of the intersection with Batavia Lane - killing William "Bill" Johnson.
Johnson's vehicle swerved to the left, he overcorrected, and the vehicle ended up in the northside ditch, according to a press release from Deputy Coroner Brad Stahlberg of the Flathead County Sheriff's Office. Johnson was not wearing a seat belt and was ejected.
He died at the scene from neck and head injuries.
Johnson is survived by his wife, Anita, and two sons, Jerry and Jesse.
Johnson Mortuary and Crematory is in charge of the funeral arrangements.
The Smith Valley Fire Department, Marion Ambulance, the Kalispell Fire Department ambulance, the Sheriff's Office and the Montana Highway Patrol responded to the accident.
