Glen Merl Ames, 74, is 'mendin' fences in heaven.' He passed away Wednesday, Nov. 7, 2007, at his Kalispell home.

Glen was born Nov. 3, 1933, in Rhinelander, Wis., to Bernard and Olive Ames. He served his country during the Korean War.

He married Barbara Ann Lindahl in 1966 and followed his dream to live in Montana. Glen loved his family and worked hard to take care of them, never missing a single day of work — even after a tragic logging accident in 1967.

He taught his children respect, love and a good work ethic. He loved hunting, fishing, camping, woodworking and watching the Green Bay Packers play.

He had an uncanny way of coming up with a common-sense solution to any problem and could build almost anything. Glen will be remembered as being 'one tough cowboy.'

Glen is preceded in death by his parents, Bernard and Olive Ames; brother, Dale Ames; and sister, Donna Smith.

Glen is survived by his wife, Barbara Ames; sons, Todd Ames of Billings, and Eric Ames of Kalispell; stepsons, John Lindahl and his wife, Linda, of Bozeman, Roger Lindahl and his wife, Kathy, of Marion, and Bruce Lindahl and his wife, Judy, of Kalispell; stepdaughter, Cindy Cloud and her husband, Clay, of Kalispell; sisters, Laurena Kress, Barbara McDonald and Darla Zuiker, all of Wisconsin; brothers, Dean Ames of California and Arvid Ames of Wisconsin; 12 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

Memorial services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 10, at Risen Christ Catholic Church.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Barbara Ames.

Buffalo Hill Funeral Home and Crematory is caring for the family.
