Orville D. 'Ozzie' Shock, 84

Orville D. "Ozzie" Shock, 84, longtime Kalispell resident, died Nov. 19, 2007, at Libby Care Center in Libby. He was born June 6, 1923, in Detroit Lakes, Minn., the youngest of five children, all of whom preceded him in death. Orville was raised in Detroit Lakes, where he graduated from high school.

In November of 1944, he married Inez Williams and they were married 58 years until her death in November 2002.

Ozzie was a B-24 bomber pilot in the 8th Air Force during World War II, flying 28 missions from England over Germany. Among the many medals he earned were the Distinguished Flying Cross and the Air Service Medal.

Following his military years, he spent most of his employment career in sales.

In 1956, he moved his family to Montana where he worked at Kalispell Mercantile, Zenith Radio Corp. and KGEZ Radio station from which he retired.

He enjoyed the outdoors, hunting, fishing and camping. For many years he and Inie spent all their spare time at their cabin on Ashley Lake.

Survivors include his sons, Thomas and wife, Lee, of Cut Bank, and Michael and wife, Anita, of Libby; four grandchildren, Cindy Bucklin of Dowington, Penn., Chad Shock of Bainbridge, Ohio, Mindy Haroldsen of Kearns, Utah, and Charisma Kepford, Carlton, Ore.; seven great-grandchildren, Alexandria, Isabel, Andrew, Jeffrey and Mark Bucklin, all of Dowington, Penn., Trenton Shock of Bainbridge, Ohio, and Emmalee Haroldsen of Kearns, Utah.

Private interment will take place at Glacier Memorial Gardens in Kalispell.

Memorials may be made to St. John Lutheran Hospice at 350 Louisiana Ave. in Libby.
