Gary David Hower, 24, passed away Thursday, Nov. 22, 2007, at his residence in Kalispell.

He was born June 13, 1983, in Whitefish, the son of Michael David and Marica Grace (Weller) Hower and Duane Evans.

This extraordinary young man brought much joy and laughter. To watch him shoot hoops with his cousin Elijiah was something to see. He surely always will be known for his ear-to-ear cheeky grin. As well as being valedictorian, he also excelled in sports.

As important as it is to grieve such a tragedy, moreover we must always remember to celebrate the gift he was in life.

'Mom says it's time to sleep little man; see you at the big paw'dy. May His heaven bring only peace. You will be missed by us all.'

He was preceded in death by his maternal grandmother, Mona Jellef Weller.

He is survived by his mother, Marica Weller, and husband, Aldis Bettis, of Libby; his father, Michael Hower, of Maine; father, Duane Evans, of Kalispell; grandparents, Gary and Donna Weller, also of Kalispell; Janet and Matt McConville of Columbia Falls; Cathy and Stan Evans of Kalispell; sisters, Christina Marie and RaeLene Mae Evans, both of Kalispell; a brother, Michael Hower, of Maine; numerous aunts, uncles and cousins; one niece and one nephew on the way; and a pack of friends we can't forget, because they were Gary's family, too.

Memorial services for Gary will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 27, at the Swan River Community Hall at the intersection of Highway 83 and Swan River Road, with Pastor Jim Holman officiating. The family would like to thank the Bethel Chapel family for their help in easing the burden. After the service, there will be a hackeysack game outside the church in honor of Gary.

Johnson Mortuary and Crematory is caring for Gary's family. You are invited to go to www.johnsonmortuary.com to offer condolences and sign Gary's guest book.
