Not very happy

| October 29, 2007 1:00 AM

Cover your eyes, I?m going on a rant.

I?m not a happy local sports fan coming out of the weekend.

On Friday night in Kalispell, our Class AA high school football teams were out-scored 92-20 in an afternoon-night doubleheader at Legends Stadium.

Ugh.

Granted, perhaps the No. 1 team in the state was in town and, oh, we didn?t have any seniors on one team. … Seems understandable.

All right, let?s sleep on it and hit Saturday?s scene.

Playoffs … Beautiful weather … Ummm, our local Class A football teams were out-scored, 59-7.

Ugh.

Granted, Hamilton and Frenchtown are fantastic teams worthy of statewide respect. But then our Class B team got snake-bitten by one point.

Son of a …

… On a positive note, the Grizzlies looked decent ? though I didn?t get to watch them closely on TV because I was writing a story (oh, and our newsroom doesn?t have a TV) ? in a big win over Jerome Souers? Northern Arizona unit that was 4-1 in Big Sky play. A local boy put the game on his shoulders and led the way! The coach said, son, ?We are going to ride you like a rented mule in the second half.? … And did! … Should be a great game Saturday at home against Jerry Glanville?s Portland State squad.

I may have to miss that game, though.

We?ve got the Libby Loggers trying to win another home quarterfinal playoff game. THAT should be a good one. … Let?s see, drive 180 miles along Montana?s best hunting land DURING HUNTING SEASON cursing the whole way because I have to work … Or do yet another trip to Missoula for a fantastic football game and then some good ol? fashioned Saturday night Zoo Town entertainment?

Tough call. … The Libby opportunities don?t come around all that often, though.

… On another positive note, Whitefish High School played Libby High School for the Class A Montana State Soccer Championship and won in the final five minutes! Congratulations, Whitefish! That?s two in a row! That had to have been an awesome game.

… Except it was soccer … JUST KIDDING! (I?ve seen some good 1-nil games).

As a stupid die-hard football fan, should I be bothered that our local football teams are better than our local football teams?

I just blew my mind.

Don?t even get me started on the Rockies.
