Billy Burt Carr, 82
Billy Burt Carr, 82, passed away Sunday, Sept. 9, 2007, at Brendan House in Kalispell. He was born on May 27, 1925, in Creston, to Clide and Marguerite (Jones) Carr.
Bill graduated from Flathead County High School in 1943, having been very involved in many school activities. He served in the United States Army from 1943 to 1946, and after military discharge he attended the University of Montana, until accepting a position with the United States Postal Service.
Bill married Marlene B. "Polly" Doyle on July 12, 1946, in Kalispell.
He worked for the postal service from 1947, being appointed to postmaster in 1973, and retiring in 1980.
Bill and Polly enjoyed sports and family events with their two sons, Doyle and Billy Jr. Bill coached Little League baseball, was active in PTA and on the Kalispell School board, and was a past master of Trinity Lodge 152 AF & AM. He directed several church choirs, and sang as a soloist for many weddings, funerals and other special events. He loved camping and fishing with his family.
During retirement, Bill was active on the RSVP board and he and Polly delivered Meals On Wheels for over 10 years. They also traveled throughout the U.S., spending several winters in Arizona.
Bill was a member of Faith Alliance Church.
Bill was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Clide Jr.; and sisters, Della Ve Cairns, Jean Hitchcock and Bea Madsen.
He is survived by his wife, Polly, and their two sons, Doyle and Donna Carr, and Bill and Tana Carr, all of Kalispell. Also surviving are five grandchildren, Doug and Dan Carr, and Kristen, Riley and Catherine Carr; numerous cousins, nephews and nieces.
The family remembers Bill as a loving Christian man with a song forever in his heart.
A memorial service for Bill will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 15, at Faith Alliance Church in Kalispell with Pastor Jim Davey officiating. A reception will follow the service at the church. A private burial will take place at Fairview Cemetery.
