Ruth Hansz, 90, of Whitefish, passed away Tuesday, Sept. 18, 2007, at her home at Riverside Assisted Living in Whitefish.

Ruth was born Sept. 7, 1917, on the family farm of Charles and Verna Edwards located near the town of Red Rock in Noble County, Okla. She was the eldest of two daughters and grew up accustomed to the hard labor and sacrifices of farm life.

Her work on the farm and a deep appreciation for education led her to Oklahoma City and a life that continued to revolve around the welfare of her family and friends.

In 1944, she married Charles Hansz and moved to Santa Rosa, Calif., and from there to the beautiful Napa Valley. Their romance lasted 58 years until it was interrupted by Charles' death in November 2002. Soon after, Ruth moved to Riverside Senior Living in Whitefish where, on Sept. 18, attended by her son, James, and her daughter-in-law, Lynn, and her adopted family at Riverside, she passed on.

James and Lynn of Kalispell, and Ruth's younger sister, Bette, of Edgerton, Wis., are consoled with the knowledge that when Ruth is laid to eternal rest in Fairview Cemetery next to her beloved husband, Charles, their romance will resume with no more interruptions.

Graveside services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 22, at Fairview Cemetery. There will not be visitation.

Johnson Mortuary and Crematory is caring for Ruth's family.
