Lula Inez King, 88
Lula Inez King, 88, passed away Sept. 17, 2007, at her Fortine residence.
"A Child of God" was born Feb. 18, 1919, to Floyd and Flora Fox in Walkerville, Mich. At a young age, Lula and her family moved to Montana.
Her father was a logger and they lived in logging camps in Trego and Kila. Lula attended first and second grades in Kila. They then moved to Lonepine, where she attended school from the third grade through her high-school years. Lula graduated valedictorian of her class. She attended every alumni banquet since they started in 1937, until this year because of illness.
Lula married Jack King in 1937. They lived in Lonepine, farming their entire lives.
Lula loved to bake, sew, garden, hunt, square dance, play cards and travel.
Lula and Jack raised four children, Bobby, Jimmy, Delores, and Rick.
She is preceded in death by her husband of 50 years, Jack King; her parents; two sons, Bobby and Jimmy; son-in-law, Roger Parker; sister, Lucy Cochrane; brother, Clayton Fox; and granddaughter, Sheri Britton.
She is survived by her twin sister, Lila Sheldon; daughter, Delores Parker; son, Rick and Cathy King; grandchildren, Deb Reynolds, Connie Schultz, Bill King, Tim King, Deb Holder, Tamara Winkler, Dennis Parker, Shelley Parker, Abby Coleman, and Cody King; 19 great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. She also leaves behind two special people, Penny Ross and Marlene Shaffer.
A celebration of life will be held at 1 p.m. Sept. 27 at the Lonepine Hall.
The family requests no flowers. Donations can be made in Lula's name to Kalispell Hospice Care.
