Dorothy E. “Dottie” Pennoyer, 79, passed away April 1, 2008, at Heritage Place in Kalispell.

| April 3, 2008 1:00 AM

She was born May 5, 1928, in Libby to James Owens and Rachel (Williams) Owens, the oldest of five children. Her father, James, died when she was young, and she was raised by her mother, Rachel, and stepfather, Orville Hoover.

She loved the outdoors. It could be fishing, camping, hunting, or just being out in the woods. She especially enjoyed her time at her favorite place, McGregor Lake.

She was always up for a game of cards, or almost any other kind of game that was fun and noisy and that she could really get into. She was a member of the Eagles and played cards there regularly.

She was a professional seamstress and could sew any kind of material and make anything out of it. She said it was her God-given talent and used it proudly. She had the biggest material stash in the state of Montana and it kept growing.

Dorothy was preceded in death by her father, James; mother, Rachel; stepfather, Orville; brother, Patrick; nephew, Brandon; and best friend, Elaine.

She is survived by her children, Nancy Hulce and husband, Rick, of Hot Springs, Karen Anderson and husband, Brian, of Havre, and Karla Lippy and husband, George, of Columbia Falls; seven grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; sister, Shirley, and Charles Druesdow; brothers, Denny and Arlene, Gaylon Lum and Maurine, and Mike and Cindy; several special nieces and nephews; and many other relatives and special friends.

Cremation has taken place, and a memorial service will be held later in the spring.

Memorials can be made to the Heritage Prize fund or the charity of your choice in memory of Dottie.
