EUREKA - Eureka swept doubles play and used a win at No. 4 singles to down Superior 4-3 on Thursday in girls' tennis play.
It was the season opener for both teams.
"We made a nice comeback," Eureka coach Dave Loy said. "We were down 3-0."
Superior won Nos. 1-3 singles.
"No. 1 singles was a very good match for early in the season," Loy said. "Even though we lost that one."
Nicole Lucier of Superior outlasted Martina Quade, 4-6, 6-3, 6-2.
Loy said his No. 1 doubles team - Tayler Holder and Marni Zauner - "kind of dominated their match."
Holder and Zauner won 6-4, 6-0.
Eureka's Karina Hofstee and Cami Stacy won a wild match at No. 2 doubles, beating Kaylee Gradd and Savannah Moore, 6-7 (11-13), 6-3, 6-2.
"We lost a disappointing tie-breaker and then came back to win the next two sets," Loy said.
Eureka is back in action Tuesday at Troy.
