Polson pounds Havre in softball

HAVRE - Polson rode a strong circle performance by junior pitcher Dakota Peterson in both games and tagged Havre pitching for 37 hits in rolling to 8-0 and 14-1 victories in nonconference softball action Friday.
Peterson checked Havre on three hits while striking out five and issuing no walks in the first game.
She came back to hold Havre to two hits in the second game while striking out four. She walked no batters.
"A very solid effort by her," Polson coach Larry Smith said of Peterson's effort. "All her pitches were working well."
Polson (3-0) had 18 hits in the first game. Charlee Jensen went 4-for-4.
Amanda James, Jensen and Rochelle Woods all doubled for the Pirates. Caitlyn Vassar drove in two runs.
SuSan Perez-Tenas, Maggie Gordon, Sarah Newton and Woods all went 3-for-4 in the second game.
James had two doubles and Newton one. James led in RBIs with four.
Polson plays a doubleheader at Browning today starting at 11 a.m.

LIBBY - Libby was on the offensive again.
The Loggers (2-0) collected 14 hits in rolling over Columbia Falls in Western A softball play.
Libby opened the season Thursday crushing Flathead 13-3.
Alysia Martin, a freshman center fielder, went 2-for-3 and belted a double in the third inning that scored three runs.
Shelby Barton, who had a perfect day at the plate (4-for-4), tripled in the first inning to score two runners.
Libby pitcher Brooke Hageness had another strong outing, checking Columbia Falls on one hit.
She held Flathead to six hits.
Libby hosts Timberlake High School from Spirit Lake, Idaho, at 1 p.m. today. Columbia Falls entertains Polson on Thursday.
