Dora W. Mahugh, 89
Dora W. Mahugh, 89, passed away Tuesday, April 1, 2008, at Brendan House in Kalispell. She was born May 9, 1918, in Creston, the daughter of Clyde and Sarah (Gosney) Burton.
She graduated from Flathead County High School in 1936. Dora Burton and C. Wayne Mahugh were joined in marriage Sept. 26, 1938.
Her main occupations were wife, mother, grandmother and servant of the Lord. In the 1950s and 1960s, she operated a mobile popcorn unit on Kalispell's Main Street, and at fairs and stock-car races. She served as a bookkeeper for numerous businesses, mainly for her husband.
Dora was active in the Christian church, Disciples of Christ, serving as organist and choir director. In the church, she also served faithfully in commission and committee work. Dora was regional president and a national staff person in Disciples of Christ for four years.
In Polson, she was a well-known salesperson at Sheneman's Men's Store and Ladies' Pendletons. She also served on the election board for many elections.
She had the gift of hospitality and served many home cooked meals on short notice. She enjoyed artistic hobbies and was a skilled seamstress, entering in several Grange sewing contests.
In their 64-year marriage, Dora and Wayne enjoyed numerous business trips across the United States and to Mexico City. They also took several pleasure trips to Alaska, Australia, Canada and the Holy Land.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Wayne Mahugh; and a grandson, Kyle Fulford.
She is survived by her son Bryan Mahugh, of Polson; daughter, Gina Fulford, and husband, Brian, and grandson, Jeffrey Fulford, all of Kalispell; a son Larry Mahugh and wife, Nona, of Anchorage, Alaska; granddaughters, Joni Mahugh, and Valerie Madison and husband, Hayden, grandson, Morie Mahugh, and wife, Christy, great-grandchildren, Zoe and River, and a brother-in-law, Les Mahugh and wife, Mary, all of Creston.
A celebration of life service for Dora will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, April 10, at Central Christian Church, with Dr. Jan Van der Poll officiating. There will be no visitation. A private burial by the family will take place.
