Edna J. David, 94

Edna David died March 31, 2008, in Ashland, Ore., due to complications from a stroke. She was born to parents Torkel T. and Laura Nissen on May 9, 1913, in New Effington, S.D.

After graduation, she had planned on becoming a nurse, but Bernard David changed her plans.

Edna married Bernard David on Feb. 5,1935, in Brockton. They moved to Kalispell in 1946, and she resided there until she moved to Oregon.

Bernard preceded her in death on Jan. 7, 1972.

Edna retired at the age of 69 from working at the Flathead County Courthouse Assessor's Office and Treasurer's Office, and continued part-time until the age of 73.

She was active in the Lutheran church, Democratic Women, Scandinavian Fraternity, AARP, Home Demonstration Club and senior center. She also involved herself in volunteer work and many card groups before moving to Oregon in 2002.

Survivors include her daughter, Shirlie Plummer-Joseph, of Ashland; son, Larry G. David, of Thousand Oaks, Calif.; five grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.

A graveside service will be held at a later date in Kalispell.
