Flathead County sheriff

A man on the Swan River nature trail near Bigfork saw a rock in the river with what appeared to be blood on it. Flathead County sheriff's deputies went to go look for it, but the rock was gone.

A woman told deputies her car was spray-painted bright red in either Columbia Falls or Whitefish.

Mailboxes were vandalized on Mooring Road.

A Whitefish Stage Road man told deputies his mail had been tampered with after some unknown person took his newspaper out of the paper box.

Authorities were unable to find a pickup that reportedly crashed into a tree on Montana 83 near Ferndale. It may have been towed away by another vehicle before emergency personnel arrived.

Deputies are investigating reports that a 15-year-old Conrad Drive boy was assaulted by his stepfather. The boy, running from his home, was reported as a suspicious person by a neighbor.

An Olney man called deputies after a "huge" grizzly bear tried to get into his house. The bear tore up some property near the kitchen window, but ran away when the man flicked on the porch light and yelled.

A construction worker smashed his hand at a Hard Rock Road work site. He was taken to the hospital by a private vehicle.

Kalispell police

A man walked out of an East Idaho Street restaurant without paying his $25 bill. But he left his phone, so Kalispell police left a message with his sister to come down to the station, take care of the theft complaint, and retrieve his phone.

A Glenwood Drive woman was reported for not willingly allowing a man to leave her residence. Officers resolved the argument.

A 26-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of assault after allegedly punching a 22-year-old man in the head. He also was taken into custody in connection with drug possession.

Whitefish police

Whitefish police arrested a 15-year-old student on suspicion of disorderly conduct at the high school.

Officers responded to the viaduct and arrested a 36-year-old man on suspicion of disorderly conduct.

Columbia Falls police

Columbia Falls police arrested a 24-year-old Martha Road woman on a Flathead County warrant for writing bad checks.

Alarms

The Kalispell Fire Department and Evergreen Fire Department responded to U.S. 2 and East Evergreen Drive, where a car ran into a utility pole. Two people suffered non-life-threatening injuries.

The Kalispell Fire Department responded to a car fire in the parking lot of an auto-parts store on East Idaho Street.

The Big Mountain Fire Department responded to a possible gas leak on Gelande Street, and the Evergreen Fire Department responded to Bernard Road after somebody reported smelling natural gas.

The Smith Valley Fire Department responded to a burning slash pile on Kienas Road.

The Kalispell Fire Department and Evergreen Fire Department responded to a rollover accident on Conrad Drive. One person was taken to Kalispell Regional Medical Center with minor injuries.

The Kalispell Fire Department responded to a fire in a garbage can on Third Avenue East.
