Grass fires hit the central Flathead Valley during the weekend.

The West Valley Fire Department responded to a one-acre grassfire on U.S. 93 North just before noon Sunday.

The South Kalispell, Smith Valley, Evergreen and Somers fire departments tackled a grass fire in the Shelter Meadows area Sunday afternoon.

The Smith Valley and West Valley departments handled a grass fire near Whalebone Drive late Sunday morning.

The Creston Fire Department responded to a grass fire Saturday afternoon on Many Lakes Drive.

Flathead sheriff

An 18-year-old girl fainted at a restaurant on U.S. 2 after some heavy drinking elsewhere, and was taken to Kalispell Regional Medical Center. The Flathead County Sheriff's Office ticketed her for possessing alcohol.

Prescription medicine was reported stolen early Sunday morning on Conrad Drive.

A boy tackled another boy and broke his shoulder Saturday evening at Swan River School. The victim was taken to Kalispell Regional Medical Center.

Deputies arrested a 52-year-old man on suspicion of drunken driving on U.S. 2 on Saturday afternoon.
