Lawrence S. Hendrickson, 78

Lawrence S. Hendrickson, 78, of Anaconda passed away Friday, April 18, 2008, at his home.

He was born Sept. 13, 1929, to Sigurd and Gertrude Hendrickson in Bonneville, Alberta. Lawrence was raised on the family homestead in Cold Lake, Alberta. He had many wonderful memories to tell of from there.

In 1939, he moved to Kalispell with his family, where he enlisted as a United States Marine at the age of 17.

Lawrence had the opportunity to travel the United States and other parts of the world. He met his beautiful wife, Ruth Hathcock, in Miami, and they were married Dec. 17, 1954, in Nashville, Tenn. Lawrence proudly served his country in the U.S. Marines from July 19, 1946, to July 31, 1963, when he received an honorable discharge.

Lawrence and Ruth were blessed with four children: Larry, Mike, Tina, and Leo.

After leaving the Marines, he lived in many places before finally residing in Opportunity. Lawrence loved to travel and visit with friends and family. His passion was always looking for a good deal o a true bargain shopper. He loved to purchase automobiles and restore them to their best condition. He saw potential in everyone and everything. He had a kind and giving heart, and will be greatly missed by all whom he has touched.

Lawrence is preceded in death by his parents, Sigurd and Gertrude; his brother Lloyd; and his sister, Evalynne.

He is survived by his wife, Ruth; children, Larry, Mike, Tina, and Leo; seven grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; his brother George; and numerous nephews and nieces.

Memorials are requested to go to the Veterans Hospital in Fort Harrison.

Private committal services with military honors will be held at the Montana Veterans Cemetery at Fort Harrison.

Services are under the care of KT Riddle Funeral Homes.
