Irvin A. Miller, 93

Irvin A. Miller, 93, passed away Thursday, April 24, 2008, at his residence in Kalispell. He was born April 11, 1915, in Boyd, the son of Lyman D. and Julia Alice (Taylor) Miller.

He attended schools in Red Lodge, where he completed the ninth grade. He worked in construction on the Cooke City Highway in Beartooth. He then went to work on the Fort Peck Dam, where he learned the welding trade.

He moved to Kalispell in 1936, and in 1937, he married Pearl Kampfe. He worked numerous welding jobs in and around Kalispell. They then moved to Seattle, as war work had started. He worked as a welder for Todd Pacific Shipyard, and then later for Clough Trucking in the Bremerton, Wash., area.

The family then moved back to Kalispell and worked on the Hungry Horse Dam. He also worked in numerous shops and construction jobs in the valley. He later worked on the construction of the Libby Dam from start to completion.

After retirement, they relocated to St. George, Utah for about 10 years. After Pearl passed away in 1986, Irvin moved back to Kalispell.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Pearl.

He is survived by his son, Gary Miller, and his wife, Clarice, of Elko, Nev.; four grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.

Graveside services will be held at a later date in St. George.
