Loggers falter against Vauxhall

VAUXHALL, Alberta - It started ugly and it just never got any better for the Libby Loggers on Monday night.
The Loggers gave up six runs in the first two innings and wound up losing 12-1 to host Vauxhall in the Class A American Legion state baseball tournament at Jets Stadium in Vauxhall.
"We got off to a rotten start and it just got rottener," said Libby head coach Kelly Morford.
"It's too bad, but maybe getting kicked in the butt might wake us up a little bit," he said.
The Loggers managed just one hit - by right fielder Dustin Morningstar. He had an infield single in the third inning. He wound up scoring Libby's only run when the Vauxhall pitcher walked the next three Loggers in a row.
The Spurs had no trouble hitting the ball. They recorded 10 hits, including three doubles and two home runs.
"Now we pack up the truck and start all over again," Morford said.
The Loggers will try to bounce back at 1 p.m. today when they take on Lethbridge.
