Nancy Lee 'Nan' Wagnon, 74

| August 10, 2008 1:00 AM

Nancy Lee "Nan" Wagnon, 74, "went to be with her Heavenly Father" on Aug. 3, 2008, while in her sleep in Missoula. Nan was born Nov. 12, 1933, in Kalispell to Leo and Vivian Kinshella. She grew up on their farm in the Flathead Valley and attended Flathead High School, graduating in 1951.

Nan married Willis B. Hovey in 1952, and they were blessed to have five children: Cindy, Vickie, Kathy, Brian, and Leo. During their marriage, they moved to Boise, Idaho. They divorced in 1973, and Nan later married Pastor Joseph E. Wagnon in 1974.

Nan and Joe moved to Eugene, Ore., and later moved to Conrad, where they ministered at Conrad Christian Church. She worked closely with the church, doing church bulletins and church fellowship. After Joe retired from the ministry, they moved back to the Flathead Valley. They remained married until Joe's death in April 2000.

In her younger years, Nan enjoyed going to the lake, water skiing, and playing in the lake with her children. During her life, Nan enjoyed working on silk floral arrangements, ceramics, painting, and she especially enjoyed reading. She owned many books and made many trips to the library. She loved listening to music, including Dean Martin, Frank Sinatra, and all the good old songs.

Nan also enjoyed desserts and never passed up pie and ice cream, sometimes eating dessert before the main meal, especially if it included huckleberries. She always made holidays special and loved her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Nan also loved her dog, Beau, with whom she often shared her dessert. She will be dearly missed by all of her family.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph E. Wagnon; her father, Leo Kinshella; her mother, Vivan Managhan; and her sister, Barbara Kraft.

Nan is survived by three daughters, Cindy Ruths and husband, Gary, of Boise, Vickie Frisbee and husband, Ted, of Boise, and Kathy Bowman and husband, Matt, of Missoula; two sons, Brian Hovey and wife, Miriam, of Wabasha, Minn., and Leo Hovey and wife, Melinda, of Kalispell; one sister, Dorothy Joplin, and husband, Bruce, of Sacramento, Calif.; 14 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 12, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Kalispell, with Pastor Mark Cutler officiating. Urn burial will be afterward at C. E. Conrad Memorial Cemetery.

The family suggests that donations be made to Trinity Lutheran Church, 400 W. California St., Kalispell, MT 59901.
