Caren Kastner, 67,
beloved wife, mother, grandmother and sister, 'went to be with the Lord' on Aug. 6, 2008, at her home in Bigfork. She was born June 11, 1941, to Tom and Cleda Kimbrough in Whittier, Calif.
She graduated from Whittier High School in 1959. During this time she met the love of her life, Ralph Kastner, who was stationed in Long Beach with the U.S. Navy.
She attended college in Fullerton, Calif., and in 1960 Caren and Ralph were married and went on to start their family.
In 1976 they, along with her sister Linda, moved to Bigfork, and purchased the Pine Cone Kitchen. She was adored by all who knew her; from the local regulars, to the returning tourists each summer from all over the country. Caren was a gracious, giving friend to all who were lucky enough to meet her.
Caren was a kind, gentle, giving person to her family, friends, church and community. She especially loved and cared for her sister, her children and grandchildren.
Caren was a tireless worker who enjoyed interacting with the public. She enjoyed planning parties and events and her love of purchasing and collecting gifts, collectibles and antiques continued throughout her life. Her wooden carousel horse collection was her favorite.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and in 1985 she lost her beloved husband, Ralph.
She is survived by her sister, Linda Adams, of Bigfork; her son, David Kastner, and his daughter, Elizabeth, of Los Angeles; her daughter, Diane Kober, and her son, Sean, of Billings; and her daughter, Donna Beliveau, and her children, Shane and Amanda, of Bigfork.
A celebration of her life will be held at 7 p.m. today, August 12, at the Crossroads Christian Fellowship.
Johnson-Gloschat Funeral Home and Crematory is caring for Caren's family. You are invited to go to www.jgfuneralhome.com to offer a condolence and to sign Caren's guestbook.
