Flathead County sheriff

A man, apparently from out of town, was asking children on Leisure Drive whether their parents were home. The man, who said he was a student, was carrying books and a backpack. When Flathead County sheriff's deputies arrived, the man had left.

An iPod, buck knife, and cell phone earpiece were stolen from a car at a park outside of Whitefish.

Deputies received a call from a Forest Drive man who said he was the target of a phone scam.

Reports that two naked men were walking eastbound on I-90 near Butte somehow made their way to the Flathead County Sheriff's Office.

A Coram Stage Road man complained that nearby campers kept trespassing on his property. When deputies responded, they found the campers on U.S. Forest Service land.

Reports that a 10-year-old boy used a rock to hit a 15-year-old girl on Canyon Road in Hungry Horse turned out to be unfounded.

Two fly rods in a green case were reported stolen at Upper Whitefish Lake.

The owner of an Evergreen residence told deputies it looked as if somebody tried to break into her house. She found a brick under her daughter's window.

Graffiti was found on the door of a St. Andrews Drive garage and a school in Lakeside.

A drift boat was reported stolen in the Kokanee Bend area. Responding deputies discovered the alleged theft was a civil matter between two parties disputing the vessel's ownership.

Deputies responded to a bar in Somers, where a woman told them she was being followed by a suspicious man.

A man allegedly threw things at his son during a disturbance in Hungry Horse. There were no arrests.

An Edgewood Drive resident complained about a neighbor's loud, drunken party, that included a bonfire.

A Somers resident discovered the doors and glove box to her car open. She wasn't sure whether anything were missing.

Two people lying in the ditch near the intersection of Montana 35 and Lake Blaine Road were just tired and stopped to rest.

Two men, who had been drinking, refused to leave the waiting room of a Bigfork clinic. When deputies responded, one of the men was unresponsive and taken to the hospital.

Someone took the radiator out of a Corvette that an Evergreen man was working on in his shop.

Deputies received 195 calls for service between 3:30 p.m. Tuesday and 3:30 p.m. Wednesday.

Kalispell police

Kalispell police counseled two boys shooting BBs at a Second Street West woman and her children. The woman had been struck in the leg.

About $100 and a passport were stolen from a car on Third Avenue East and Second Street.

A woman stole a basketful of merchandise from a department store in a Center Street mall and then took off in a small blue car.

Officers counseled a 9-year-old Third Avenue East North boy who had been abusive toward a parent in the past.

Officers visited a Great View Drive residence and arrested a 22-year-old woman on a Sanders County warrant for failing to pay court fines.

Men and women got into verbal disturbances on South Meridian Road and 10th Street West. All parties were counseled and separated.

Somebody shot out the window of a car on U.S. 93 North and then drove off.

After receiving complaints about a Stratford Drive resident's loud stereo, officers warned the offending party that if they were forced to return, a ticket for disorderly house would be issued.

A man walked away from a Third Avenue West apartment building carrying a white lawn chair.

Youths writing dirty messages on unwashed cars in a First Avenue East parking lot refused to wipe them off when confronted by a passer-by.

A 7-year-old reported missing at Lawrence Park was found while the mother was still on the phone with police.

A Third Street West man's ex-wife refused to leave the residence until officers arrived.

Officers received 81 calls for service between 2:30 p.m. Tuesday and 2:30 p.m. Wednesday.

Whitefish police

Whitefish police arrested a 69-year-old man on suspicion of driving without a license while investigating a suspicious-person complaint near City Beach.

Officers received 53 calls for service between 3:30 p.m. Tuesday and 3:30 p.m. Wednesday.

Columbia Falls police

Columbia Falls police arrested a 50-year-old man on suspicion of partner assault after responding to a disturbance at a Fourth Avenue East residence.

A purse was stolen from a car parked at a construction supply business on Ninth Street West.

Officers received 29 calls for service between 3:30 p.m. Tuesday and 3:30 p.m. Wednesday.

Alarms

The ALERT helicopter, Kalispell Fire Department, Somers Fire Department and Lakeside Quick Response Unit responded to a rollover crash on U.S. 93. The car rolled several times down a hill. Two people were taken to Kalispell Regional Medical Center.

The Somers Fire Department responded to an illegal burn off Blacktail Road.

The Whitefish Fire Department responded to Wisconsin Avenue, where a pedestrian and vehicle collided, but no one was taken to the hospital.

The West Valley Fire Department responded to the county dump after someone reported seeing smoke. Turns out it was the routine burning of garbage in facilities designed for that purpose.

The Creston Fire Department responded to Montana 35 near the intersection with Montana 206 to make sure a brush fire, possibly started by a passing vehicle, was extinguished.

The Kalispell Fire Department responded to a crash on Indian Trail Road, but no one needed medical treatment.

Three Rivers EMS responded to a crash on Going To The Sun Road near Logan Pass. Injured occupants were taken to North Valley Hospital.

Marion Ambulance took a woman who fell from her horse near a brewery off U.S. 2 to Kalispell Regional Medical Center.
