Paul C. Shelt, 75

Paul C. Shelt, 75, passed away Tuesday Aug. 12, 2008, at Kalispell Regional Medical Center in Kalispell. He was born Feb. 24, 1933, in Delta, Ohio, to Charles and Arebelle (Wentz) Shelt.

After graduating from high school, Paul joined the U.S. Army. He married Ann Ruppel in Toledo, Ohio, on Nov. 1, 1952. Paul was a military man for 32 years, and traveled the world, retiring in 1982.

After retirement, Jerry and Ann settled in Kalispell, where he enjoyed hunting, fishing and gardening.

Paul was preceded in death by his parents; one sister, Carolyn; and a brother, Roger.

He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Ann Shelt, of Kalispell; two sons, Nick Shelt and wife, Brenda Lee, of Kalispell, and Bruce Shelt and wife, Elena, of Anchorage, Alaska; two granddaughters, Stacie Erickson and husband, Rocky, and Trina Shelt; two great-granddaughters, Bailey and Oakley Erickson; three brothers, Clifford and Irene of Delta, Gary and Susan of Stewart, Fla., and Larry Shelt of Moorehead, Ky.; and one sister-in-law, Carolyn Shelt.

Funeral services for Paul will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 19, in the Johnson-Gloschat Funeral chapel. Visitation will be from noon to 6 p.m. Monday, Aug. 18.

The family suggests memorial gifts be given to the Veterans of Foreign War Post 2252, 330 First Ave. W., Kalispell, MT 59901; or the Flathead Valley United Church of Christ, 204 Seventh Ave. W., Kalispell, MT 59901.
