Vernon C. Woodard, 83

Vernon C. Woodard, 83, a longtime resident of the Kalispell area, passed away of natural causes Sunday, Nov. 23, 2008, at Heritage Place in Kalispell. He was born Sept. 4, 1926, in Fergus Falls, Minn. He grew up there and in the Kila area. He was educated in Fergus Falls.

Vernon served in the U.S. Army and was a veteran of World War II.

He retired from a career in engineering manufacturing.

Vernon liked to gamble and fish, most often with his friend, Wayne. The two were like brothers to each other.

He also loved archery and often bow hunted, until it became too difficult for him to go out.

Everyone whose lives Vernon came in contact with was enlightened by him. He will be missed dearly by many, many friends.

Vernon is survived by his good friend, Wayne Whidden, of Kalispell.

Cremation has taken place with Buffalo Hill Funeral Home. Vernon's ashes will be placed with his father's, Vernon S. Woodard, at Glacier Memorial Gardens in Kalispell.

Memorial services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 10, in the Fireside Room of the Elms residential building, 330 Third Ave. W., in Kalispell.
