Whitefish High School's Colt Idol has verbally committed to play basketball at Montana State University.
Idol, a 6-foot-3, 200-pound senior, informed MSU head basketball coach of Brad Huse of his decision after a recent visit.
Idol is a WHS honor student with a 4.0 GPA, and is regarded as one of the top two-guard players in the state.
"Colt is a tremendous athlete who most certainly could play football, basketball or track at the NCAA Division 1 level, but basketball is his passion," Whitefish coach Eric Stang said in a press release.
"I know Coach Huse considers Colt to be a premier prospect and they are extremely excited to have him joining their program.
"I believe Colt will be a great fit for the MSU men's basketball program," Stang added.
"He has a tenacious work ethic on and off the court, and he has demonstrated over the last three years that he's not only very athletic, but is also a versatile scorer, skilled ball handler, strong rebounder and a great team player."
Michel Swita, a 7-0 freshman at North Idaho College, will sign with the Bobcats in the spring. He will have three years of eligibility remaining with the Bobcats after redshirting last season at Fort Scott Community College in Kansas.
Swita, who is from Paris, has played sparingly for North Idaho because of a bruised knee. Coach Jared Phay calls Swita a skilled big man with a nice mid-range jump shot and a solid defender.
