Gerald 'Jerry' Adams, 76

Gerald "Jerry" Adams, 76, passed away peacefully in the presence of his loving family as the result of lung cancer Wednesday, Dec. 10, 2008, in Kalispell.

Jerry was born Nov. 19, 1932, in Bemidji, Minn., to Robert and Ruth (Major) Adams. He was raised in Bemidji, where he attended schools, graduating from high school in 1950. Jerry attended watch-making school in St. Paul, Minn.

He served in the U.S. Army from January 1953 until January 1955.

He married Joann Grob on Nov. 29, 1952, and they were married for 56 years.

During his work career, he worked at the Hungry Horse Dam, Bjorneby Jewelry Watch Repair and in sales, at KOFI Radio as a salesman. In his later years, he was part owner and manager in sales, for a total of 41 years of which he was very proud. He retired in September 1997.

He loved fishing, hunting and golfing, he played bridge, and in retirement in Mesa, Ariz., loved to play cribbage.

Jerry was generous, reliable and a faithful man in all aspects of his life.

He was preceded in death by his father, Robert; and his mother, Ruth.

He is survived by his wife, Joann, of Kalispell; four sons, Kerry, Scott and Kirby, all of Kalispell, and Brent of Coarsegold, Calif.; a brother, Robert, and wife, Shirley Adams, of Columbia Falls; and two nephews and one niece, five granddaughters, Sarah, Kayla, Shelby, Miranda and Chelsea, two much loved daughters-in-law, one 18-month-old great-granddaughter, a sister-in-law and her husband, Betty and Bill Turner, and their six children, all in Washington State.

Graveside services will be held at 2 p.m. Monday, Dec. 15, at Glacier Memorial Gardens, with military honors being done by the United Veterans of the Flathead Valley.

The family requests memorials be made in Jerry's name to the Flathead Food Bank or the Salvation Army.
