Jerald L. 'Jerry' Culbert, 75

Jerald L. "Jerry" Culbert, 75, of Missoula passed away Monday, Dec. 15, 2008, at St. Patrick Hospital. He was born Aug. 4, 1933, in Minnesota, the son of Bessie and Francis Culbert. At an early age, he moved with his family to the Wood's Bay area, where he was reared and educated.

He served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War and was honorably discharged.

He later married Judy Halbom on June 30, 1956.

Jerry worked as a design engineer throughout the Northwest, including Western Montana, where he worked on the construction of the mill in Frenchtown and several other large construction projects.

He enjoyed reading and was an avid Grizzly fan, being a longtime supportive member of the Grizzly Den.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

His family includes his wife, Judy, of the family home; three children, Jeff Culbert of Missoula, Brian and wife, June Culbert, of Illinois, and Kim and husband, John Peterson, of Missoula; brother, Lee, and wife, Bonnie Culbert, of Wood's Bay; a sister, Mary Layne and husband, Ken Fitzgerald, of Lewistown, Idaho; five grandchildren, Gary, Jennifer, Christopher, Krysten and Jacob; and five great-grandchildren.

Cremation is under the care of Garden City Funeral Home of Missoula. At this time, no services are planned. A celebration of Jerry's life will be held at Red's Bar and Curley's Broiler at a date to be announced later.
