Gloria Jean Hamption Patton, 59

Gloria Jean Hamption Patton, 59, passed away on Jan. 28, 2008, in Kalispell, which was her home.

She was born, Dec. 2, 1948, to the late Sam and Maria Hamption in Tallulah, La., the oldest of five children. Gloria grew up in Kansas City, Mo., and Omaha, Neb., where she graduated from North High School, and the University of Nebraska. There she met and married Jerry A. Patton (deceased) and had one daughter, Blythe Rachel.

Gloria was an accomplished writer and painter, living in Montreal, Quebec for a time. She enjoyed black and white classic movies, arts and crafts, quilting, sewing and had a passion for painting.

She was employed at Flathead Electric Cooperative.

Gloria is survived by her daughter, Blythe, of Laurel, Md.; sisters, Earnestine Hamtion Lathan and Brenda Gayle of Atlanta, and Kai Lynn Hamption Poole and husband, Roland, of Florence, S.C.; brother, Sam D. Hamption, of Minneapolis; and a host of nieces and nephews.

Gloria will be missed by her family and friends and those who knew her along the way. Her spirit will continue to live on with us as we celebrate her life.

In honoring her requests, a memorial service will not be held, but her family would like to express a sincere thank you to her friends, co-workers and acquaintances that knew her and have expressed their words of comfort and support.
