Eureka boys reach hoops postseason

EUREKA - The Eureka high school boys' basketball team punched its ticket to the postseason Tuesday night.

The Lions beat St. Ignatius, 46-34, in a District 8-B Tournament play-in game.

Big John Davis registered a double-double with 17 points and 12 rebounds to lead the way for Eureka. Marcus Pluid had six points and seven rebounds. Josiah Begay added 11 points.

Ahead 16-15 at the half, the Lions outsored the Bulldogs in both the third and fourth quarters.

The Lions finished with a 29-14 rebounding advantage, according to Eureka coach Chad Dunn.

The victory improved the Lions to 4-15 on the season. They will play Thompson Falls on Friday in the first-round of the district tournament in Polson.
