Flathead County Sheriff's detectives are investigating the death of a 2-year-old Coram girl.

Authorities investigate tot's death

The toddler's mother called 911 from their Wagner Road home about 4 p.m. Thursday to report her daughter was not breathing.

The ALERT helicopter responded and transported the girl to Kalispell Regional Medical Center, where she was pronounced dead. Her body has been taken to the state crime lab in Missoula for an autopsy. The girl's name is being withheld. The investigation is ongoing, Sheriff Mike Meehan said.

A Columbia Falls Stage Road man called Flathead County Sheriff's deputies after watching a 12-year-old boy try to steal his car. The man held onto the boy, who had been reported as a runaway, until authorities arrived. Deputies contacted the parents and returned the boy to his Gordon Avenue residence.

A woman was arrested for shoplifting from a box store on U.S. 2 in Evergreen.

A snowmobile was reported stolen from the backside of Big Mountain.

A Gopher Lane man called deputies because his stepdaughter's boyfriend, who had been drinking, refused to leave the house. Deputies caught the 29-year-old man on his way out and arrested him for trespassing and driving under the influence of alcohol.

Threats were uttered while a Bigfork woman and her ex-husband exchanged custody of their child.

A Whitefish man told deputies he keeps getting threatening phone calls from a man he doesn't even know.

A man tried to use a fake ID to buy beer at an Evergreen convenience store. When he was confronted by the clerk, the man took off.

A green Subaru stopping at every mailbox on Rose Crossing was reported as suspicious. The driver was delivering newspapers.

A Harmony Road man told deputies his ex-wife was outside pounding on his door and wouldn't leave. Deputies spoke with the woman and convinced her to go.

A passer-by reported a suspicious vehicle on Pebble Drive. It turned out the driver had just run out of gas.

Deputies told a customer refusing to leave a convenience store near the intersection of U.S. 2 and Reserve Drive to make tracks.

The residents of several homes on Dorothy Street in Columbia Falls reported seeing fresh footprints in the snow around their houses. Nothing appeared to be missing.

An Alpine Lane woman told deputies that her daughter's boyfriend had snatched their four children the day after it allegedly occurred. The mother, however, never reported the matter to authorities.

Reports that at least two children broke into a One Way Road home and then took off turned out to be unfounded.

A 27-year-old Airport Road man was arrested for possession of drug paraphernalia after his girlfriend called police because he was throwing things around the residence and breaking stuff in front of the kids.

Officers were unable to locate a woman observed slapping her young son on the head outside a sporting-goods store on U.S. 93 North.

A 19-year-old woman was arrested for driving without a license or insurance on Second Street West.

A Fifth Avenue West woman told officers a vicious pit bull attacked her dog.

A Kelly Road man requested officers help him get back inside his house after his wife locked him out.

A man in a department store on U.S. 93 North handed a clerk a bad check and walked out with $173.88 in merchandise.

Officers responded to Fifth Avenue West and took a suicidal woman, who had been drinking, to Kalispell Regional Medical Center for a mental health evaluation.

Two teenagers were arrested for possession of alcohol on Whitefish Stage Road after another motorist called in a reckless driving complaint.

Bullet holes were found in the front window of a coffee shop on South Main Street.

A woman's wallet was stolen while she was inside a thrift store on U.S. 93 South.

Whitefish police arrested a 27-year-old Kalispell man for possession of drug paraphernalia, resisting arrest, and a warrant for privacy in communications after responding to a Somers Avenue residence on a harassment call.

Columbia Falls police served a 35-year-old man with a warrant for contempt of court at his Montana 40 residence.

The Evergreen Fire Department responded to Sleepy Hollow Drive and extinguished a chimney fire.

Firefighters also responded to a burning pile of rubbish U.S. 2, but it was already under control.

The Kalispell Fire Department responded to a Lakeside residence where an 86-year-old woman accidentally took too many pills.

She was taken to Kalispell Regional Medical Center.
