Lucille Hobbs, 79

Lucille Hobbs, 79, of Columbia Falls, passed away on Feb. 14, 2008, due to lung cancer.

Lucille was born Nov. 14, 1928, in Miles City to Jack and Mary Winters. Her early childhood was spent on a ranch, riding bareback, running track and doing family activities.

In 1948, she married Arthur Hobbs in Miles City. Art's job took them to Columbia Falls, Libby, Great Falls and Havre. They had five children.

Lucille worked as a nurse's aide and was very active with the VFW. She served several terms as president of the VFW Women's Auxiliary, earning several awards for her service and traveling all over the United States. She also enjoyed crafting and following her grandchildren's activities.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Art Hobbs; one brother, Bill Winters; two sisters, Doris Guenther and Laura Decker; and daughter-in-law, Debbie Hobbs.

She is survived by one daughter, Wanda Hobbs, of Sacramento; four sons, Wayne Hobbs of Polson, Ed and wife, Annette, of Great Falls, Ron and wife, Michele, of Kalispell, and Randy and wife, Shelly, of Columbia Falls; six grandkids, Shaun, Cole, Tyler, Shelby, Trace and Tanner; and one brother, Jackie Winters.

Services will be 2 p.m. today at the Eagles Club in Columbia Falls.

Memorials are suggested to the V.F.W. Women's Auxiliary or to the veterans food pantry.
