The Lake County Sheriff's Office is investigating the Monday morning death of a Ferndale man.

The man, whose name and age have not been released, was found dead in a Meadow Creek Road home about 5:30 a.m. Deputies were reportedly called to the residence after shots were fired. Authorities have not released information about who called 911 or whether anyone else was in the house when deputies arrived.

The death has not been ruled a homicide, said Lake County Sheriff Lucky Larson on Monday morning.

Detectives and the Lake County District Attorney arrived around noon to process the scene. They were still working at 7:30 p.m.

Lake County Attorney Mitch Young said late Monday he could not comment on the case.

Three detectives were working on the case, Larson said. Both Flathead and Lake County Sheriff's deputies responded to the original call.

Also Monday, Flathead County Sheriff's detectives launched an investigation into the death of a 45-year-old Marion man.

He was found dead by his landlord about 2:45 p.m. in a residence on U.S. 2 west of Marion.

Investigators expect to send the body to the state crime lab in Missoula for an autopsy Wednesday.

Further details on either case were not available late Monday.

Flathead County Sheriff's deputies are now investigating two suspicious deaths.

The body of Stewart Nuss, 52, was found in a Mooring Meadow Road home near Columbia Falls on Dec. 27.

Deputies found Nuss while conducting a welfare check at his home. Nuss' wife had contacted the Sheriff's Office from Oregon after being unable to reach him since Dec. 24.

Investigators have not yet determined the manner of Nuss' death.
