No one is sure how long the 22-year-old man was stuck in a trench on Shady Lane, but by the time paramedics arrived at 2:30 a.m. Tuesday, he was unresponsive. He'd fallen through snow atop a trench and gotten his foot stuck in an old septic tank. Kalispell Fire Department ambulance took him to the hospital.

Four people were injured when a pickup slid over a bank on Blacktail Road Monday afternoon. Kalispell Fire Department ambulance and ALERT helicopter took some of them to the hospital.

A Dumpster fire spread to a telephone pole in a Kalispell alley Monday night. Kalispell Fire Department put out the flames.

Smith Valley Fire Department was sent to Eagle Ridge Lane to help a resident shut off a smoke alarm.
