Dumped dogs are picked up
The driver of a logging truck on Thompson River Road called Flathead County sheriff's deputies to report several litters of puppies dumped off on the side of the road. A second trucker called in to report several other dogs, some of which were cut and bleeding. County animal wardens responded and picked up seven dogs from two locations. Some of them had bite marks. All were taken to the county animal shelter.
A person on 12th Street East North in Columbia Falls told deputies they were being harassed.
Someone reported seeing an empty bass-fishing boat floating down the Flathead River near the Montana 82 bridge. There were trucks with boat trailers at a nearby launch, but no people. Deputies responded and were unable to locate any boat.
A LaBrant Road tenant sold his landlord's kayaks, paddles, and several saws at a Kalispell pawn shop.
Someone at the Columbia Falls Post Office put a package in the wrong post office box, and the person who owned the box took the package.
A Little Mountain Lane man told deputies his dog was stolen. When pressed, he admitted it may have run away and jumped into somebody's car.
A School Addition Road woman called 911 saying she thought a man was about to beat her up. Then the line went dead. When deputies arrived at the residence, everything seemed fine.
A Tamarack Drive woman returned home to find a mountain lion sitting near her garage. The mountain lion was growling and wouldn't let her get into the house, she told dispatchers.
Deputies arrested an 18-year-old man on suspicion of partner assault and possession of alcohol on Ridgewood Drive in Evergreen. He allegedly wanted a ride home, and when it didn't materialize in a timely manner he hit his girlfriend in the head.
Cars ended up in ditches on U.S. 93 near Olney, U.S. 2 near Hungry Horse, U.S. 2 near Kila, Big Mountain Road, and twice on U.S. 93 near Whitefish. No one was injured.
A man reported losing his shotgun on Loser Valley Road.
Someone ran into a convenience store at the intersection of U.S. 2 and Montana 40 and ran out with some beer.
