Philip Bergmann, 86, died of old age on June 25, 2008, in Oakland, Calif. Phil was born March 31, 1922, and grew up in Kalispell, the fifth child of Nora and Jim Bergmann.
He was a 1940 graduate of Flathead County High School. Phil served in the Navy in World War II, then attended Purdue University.
After college, he moved to California to work as an electrical engineer. Although he resided in California from then on, his heart stayed in Montana, and he visited his family in Kalispell every year.
In addition to his five children and six grandchildren, Phil is survived by his older brother, Wally Bergmann, and Mary Jane, of Kalispell; sisters, Glenyce Krogstad of Kalispell, and Patty Plumb (Jay) of Wenatchee, Wash. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
His brother Walter and sister Margaret Croisettier predeceased him.
A small memorial service was held in Oakland, Calif.
