Mariners split at Harp

The Mission Valley Mariners stretched their American Legion baseball win streak to 22 games Friday afternoon at the John R. Harp Tournament in Kalispell, but it was snapped in the evening.
The Mariners scored four runs on five hits in the second inning to rally past Spokane's Ferris High School for a 6-3 victory, but they were on the wrong side of a 3-2 pitcher's duel with the Calgary Longhorns.
Kyle Bagnell pitched the distance against Ferris, racking up 14 strikeouts while allowing seven hits and two walks.
Eric Locke and John Rausch smacked two hits apiece against Ferris, while Tim Rausch doubled and drove in two runs.
John Rausch held the Longhorns to four hits, but the Mariners managed just three knocks while striking out 13 times.
John Rausch went 2-for-3 with a double, but Derrick Rothe's single was Mission Valley's only other hit.
The Mariners (43-9 overall) face the Class A Kalispell Lakers tonight at 8.
