GREAT FALLS - Make that 11 victories in a row.

The streaking Great Falls Stallions swept an American Legion baseball doubleheader from the worn-out Kalispell Lakers on Tuesday, winning 13-4 and 9-2 at Don Olson Field.

The Lakers wrapped up a grueling stretch, which saw them play 16 games in 15 days. Up next for Kalispell is a Saturday contest at the Glacier Twins, one nine-inning game starting at 6 p.m.

The Stallions top the Class AA Western Division standings with a 17-4 record. The Lakers are 9-9 and hold down fourth place.

Missoula, 12-3, is sitting second and Lethbridge, 9-3, is third.

The top three teams from the Western Division advance to the state tournament in Great Falls next month. The Great Falls Electrics (6-10) earn an automatic bye as the tournament host.

Bryce Thompson homered twice in the first game for the Stallions, who scored seven runs in the final two innings.

Jacob Scott, 2-for-3, led the Lakers.

The Stallions scored in every inning but the first to win the second game. Thompson was the winning pitcher and also homered in that contest.

Great Falls had 13 hits in the finale to five for the Lakers.

It was the second time this month these teams met. Kalispell swept the Stallions in Kalispell.

On Monday, Kalispell split with the Electrics in Great Falls. The Lakers outslugged the hosts in the opener, winning 17-16, but fell in the second game 10-9.

The Lakers had 19 hits in the first game, led by Ben Sansver, 4-for-5. Sansaver had two doubles. Toby Liechti homered and drove in two runs.

The Lakers walked in the winning run to drop the second game. Adam Olson, 3-for-5, paced Kalispell's 10-hit attack.

"We stayed fairly solid defensively," Lakers coach Ryan Malmin said.

"The scores don't indicate how well our kids played. We mashed the ball. We just couldn't keep up with them. We ran into two teams that where hot offensively."

The Lakers were scheduled to play at Havre today, but that doubleheader was canceled.

A home doubleheader with Butte on July 26 has also be canceled.
